holidayIn the spirit of giving, light a light this holiday season for someone you love, something you wish for, or in remembrance of a loved one. Each light you light is a donation to the City of Edmonds Youth Scholarship Fund that enables Edmonds’ children to participate in Edmonds Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services programs who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity.

A living fir tree is strung with lights and placed at the entrance of the Frances Anderson Center. Donate $5 per light and they’ll note your donation on the main floor bulletin board of the Frances Anderson Center. The living fir tree will be lit through Jan. 2. After the holidays, this tree will be planted in the interior of Pine Ridge Park.

Each year the City of Edmonds Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department receives numerous requests for assistance and provides up to $3,500 in scholarships annually. The Celebration of Lights program has raised $12,150 since its inception in 1996 for the Youth Scholarship Fund.

To light a light, call 425-771-0268 and the city will send you a form — or pick up a form from the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main St., Edmonds.
