On Friday, Dec. 19, a group of 85 Edmonds-Woodway High School students headed to downtown Seattle with cameras in hand, and one goal in mind: to create.

Accompanied by 12 adult chaperones and Edmonds-Woodway photography instructor Tiffany Davis, the students boarded buses bound for Seattle Center and Pike Place Market. The trip was organized by Davis as a learning experience. “The field trip is a highlight of the class and something students really look forward to and enjoy,” she said. “They are able to apply what they have been learning in class all semester in a fun setting with more interesting subjects. It’s always been a successful trip and students’ favorite project.”

Soon after arriving, the students were swarming around all the familiar sights at Seattle Center such as the Space Needle, the EMP and the International Fountain. But rather than looking for normal tourist poses, they sought new angles, new perspectives and new ideas. This continued throughout the day as they moved on to Pike Place Market and wandered around its streets and alleys, including the famed gum wall.

For the students, it was a chance to see the familiar in new ways and without a doubt their finished images are sure to amaze their classmates, friends and families.
