Snohomish County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney and Edmonds resident Adam Cornell will be honored with the Center for Children & Youth Justice’s 8th annual Norm Maleng Advocate for Youth Award at the organization’s breakfast fundraiser at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel.
According to the announcement:
Growing up in the state’s foster care system, Cornell learned at a very young age that substance abuse, domestic violence and tragic death were roadblocks to the stability he longed for. Far too many of the adults in his life, and the systems set up to protect him, consistently failed him instead. But the love of foster parents, teachers, friends – and, eventually an adoptive family – enabled him to triumph.
Cornell, a former national “youth of the year” for the Boys & Girls Clubs, will share his story with more than 600 guests at the charitable organization’s signature fundraising event of the year.
