Man arrested for hit-and-run accident after striking woman in crosswalk on Highway 99 Saturday

A man was arrested for a hit-and-run accident after allegedly hitting a woman in a crosswalk at 216th Street Southwest and Highway 99 on Saturday, according to Lynnwood Police

A woman in her 20s was walking west across Highway 99 at 216th Street Southwest in the crosswalk and had the walk signal, according to witness reports. A vehicle turning north (right) from westbound 216th struck the woman, knocking her to the ground. She was conscious but was complaining of pain and was transported to the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and got out of his vehicle and told the female to get up. He then drove away northbound. An officer located a vehicle matching the description of the involved vehicle at 188th Street Southwest and Highway 99. The vehicle was stopped and several witnesses were brought to the scene and all identified the driver and the vehicle as the person involved.

The driver, a man in his 70s, denied being involved in the collision.  His vehicle showed damage consistent with the collision.  The man was arrested and booked for hit and run – injury and later posted bond and was released from jail.
