Patrick Burnett, professor in the engineering department at Edmonds Community College, spoke to the Edmonds Rotary Noon Club Tuesday at their regular meeting. Burnett spoke about the college's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program. His talk was interjected with magical tricks such as this one, where he mixes two clear liquids (water and liquid nitrogen), which results in a cloud of smoke as seen in this photo. He defines an engineer as an artist who uses science, technology and math to make "_______ " He purposely leaves this blank to encourage the creativity of his students. 1. WOW! What a dynamic teacher. I wish he would have been around when I was learning the three “r” as I would have not solely concentrated on arithmetic, writing, and reading. I am SO glad he is in our school system as science is so important to us today and it really is all integrated. WOW is all I can say! This teacher rocks!
