Will you chip in to support our nonprofit newsroom with a donation today? Yes, I want to support My Edmonds News!

Edmonds’ Driftwood Theatre Company is hoping to hit the road soon to participate in the Washington State Community Theater Association’s theater festival, “Kaleidoscope,” according to Board President Carissa Meisner-Smit.
Held every two years, the festival draws theater companies from around the state to put on their productions and celebrate excellence in Community Theater.
This year the festival will be in Richland, Wash., and Driftwood Players have established a Power 2 Give campaign to help defray their taking-it-on-the-road expenses.
“At past festivals (Driftwood Players) have been awarded Best Actress, Best Costuming; and in 2009 we won first place at the Regional Competition and went on to represent the Northwest at the national level,” Mesiner-Smit says. “We know our production ‘Oblivion’ (by playwright Paul Lewis) will be something special but we need help. Edmonds Driftwood Players is a nonprofit community theater; the 500-mile round-trip and the hotel stays for our crew of 10 are prohibitive without your assistance. Help us get this show on the road!”
Additional details about the Driftwood Players efforts are presented by Meisner-Smit in this YouTube video.
All donations to this project will be matched dollar for dollar by Raynier Institute & Foundation.
