After a national search process for a new Chief Executive Officer, the Community Transit Board of Directors has narrowed its field of candidates to the final four.

This week, the candidates will be at Community Transit for orientation and final interviews.

After this week’s activities, the board hopes to announce the new CEO at its regular monthly meeting on March 5.

Two of the finalists are internal candidates and the other two are from the Pacific Northwest. The finalists are:

• Emmett Heath
  Heath has served as Director of Administration at Community Transit for 10 years. In that position, Heath has had full responsibility for the preparation and management of the annual operating and capital budgets. He also served as the agency’s representative to the Washington State Transit Insurance Pool and was on that organization’s board of directors. Heath previously was Assistant General Manager of Transmission, Distribution and Engineering and also Assistant General Manager of Corporate Services for the Snohomish County PUD, and was responsible for transit department capital planning, fleet procurement and vehicle maintenance at King County Metro Transit.
• Tom Hingson
  Hingson is currently the Transportation Services and Transit Director for Everett Transit, a position he has held since 2006. In that position, Hingson is responsible for the management of an annual budget of $38 million, operation of Everett’s fixed route and paratransit service, and management of Everett Station. He also served on the boards of the Washington State Transit Association and the Washington State Transit Insurance Pool. Hingson previously was a planner and coach operator at Community Transit.
• Ron Kilcoyne
  Kilcoyne is currently the General Manager for the Lane Transit District in Eugene, Ore., a position he has held since 2011. In that position, he is responsible for a $61 million budget and is overseeing development of the agency’s third EMX bus rapid transit line. Kilcoyne previously served as CEO for the Greater Bridgeport Transit Authority in Bridgeport, Conn., and transit manager for the City of San Clarita, Calif.
• Fred Worthen
  Worthen is currently the Director of Transportation at Community Transit, a position he has held for 10 years. In that position, he is responsible for the operation of 24 local and nine commuter bus routes. He also was instrumental in the implementation of the agency’s Swift bus rapid transit line. Worthen previously served as the Assistant Director of Administrative Operations for the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority in Austin, Texas, General Manager for Connect Transportation in Texas City, Texas, and a Planning Analyst and coach operator for the Regional Transportation Authority in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The Community Transit Board of Directors holds its next meeting at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 5 in the Community Transit Corporate Board Room, 7100 Hardeson Road in Everett.
