  1. “Also on that same day, a woman entered the store, selected and concealed several items in her purse, zipping it closed. After being stopped outside the store and searched, police discovered she was in possession of heroin.”

What aisle is that in? Is it by the toothpaste? 😉

  2. I would like to know why this area is so hard to clean up. I read in the police blogger about this Safeway all the time. My mother works the early shift at the Family Pancake House across the street, and she will not get out of her car until another employee is there to meet her. She has been working there for 37 yrs and says it’s getting worse then ever. What is going on in this area!!!! Please let us know(community) .

  3. My theory on it is that as Shoreline is cleaning up their stretch of 99, a lot of the problems are migrating north. I shop at this Safeway, often late at night, and walking back out into the parking lot is the most dangerous thing that I do on a regular basis. I often see the police there, and I’m glad to see them there. They are the reason it isn’t even worse.

  4. Number one public health problem in the United States…….ADDICTION……..Many of these people need treatment that are in this area (not jail or prison)..Same in Seattle…..Next biggest problem ….one out of five people in the United States living beneath twice the poverty level (45 million) and we throw all of these vulnerable people together and then we don’t really see it …..along many many highways across our country…..FBI has a crime map of these areas and it is incredible and shocking to see. We make it their problem, not ours. Enlightened countries such as the Scandinavian countries take care of their most vulnerable and they do not have the problems we have like this.

We now have one percent of our country being more important than anything. I say where is our humanity?!The United States is not looked at around the world like we used to be looked at and revered….

Give me your tired, your poor, your hungry, your huddled masses yearning to breathe no longer applied.

I could be wrong but I believe we are getting ready to build and throw a bunch more people up there on Highway 99.

  5. Tere, I’m all for helping people out who are interested in getting help, but muggings and beatings (and the occasional rape or stabbing) cannot be ignored, and the police are there to prevent that from happening.
