Happening nearby: Lynnwood to host Black History Month Celebration Thursday

“Please join us for this free celebration of our community!” the invitation reads as the City of Lynnwood’s Neighborhoods & Demographic Diversity Commission and the City of Lynnwood invite their neighboring communities to a Black History Month Celebration on Thursday, Feb. 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The event will be held at Fire Station 15, 18800 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood.

Snohomish County Executive John Lovick will serve as keynote speaker following a welcome message from Lynnwood Mayor Nicola Smith, Fire Chief Scott Cockrum and members of the Diversity Commission.

There will also be performances from the Second Baptist Gospel Choir, poetry reading, light refreshments and safety demonstrations.
