Washington Kids in Transition hosting snack drive on Saturday

Will you chip in to support our nonprofit newsroom with a donation today? Yes, I want to support My Edmonds News!

WebWashington Kids in Transition, a volunteer organization committed to providing basic needs to homeless children, is celebrating its new storage area by having a
drive by snack donation drop from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7.

The organization’s new storage and packing office is at 610 Main Street in Edmonds. Washington Kids in Transition is on the corner of 6th and Main Street inside the Insurance Services building. If you pull around to the back of the building, to the upper level parking lot, volunteers will come out to the car and get the snacks. You do not even have to get out of the car.

Here are a list of suggested snacks:

  • Granola bars, cereal bars, protein bars, fruit bars
  • Raisins, fruit cups, squeezable fruit pouches
  • Instant oatmeal cups/packets, individual size cereal
Cup-O-Noodles, cups of soup pop-top lids, instant mac and cheese cups
  • Portable chicken or tuna salad with crackers lunch packs
  • Cheese and crackers, handi-snacks, pudding cups
  • Small water bottles, shelf stable individual milks (plain)
  • Pop-tarts, pretzel packets, cracker packets
  • Beef jerky, beef sticks, fresh easy peel mandarin oranges
  • Portable cups of ready to eat pasta (Chef-Boyardee)
  • Plastic spoons, paper lunch bags

The snacks Washington Kids in Transition provides go to the McKinny Vento kids in the Edmonds School District. For many of these homeless or transitional youth, the food that is provided may be the only thing they have to eat from the time they leave school until they return to school the next day.

If you are not able to stop by Saturday, visit: www.washingtonkidsintransition.org to find out more.
