What better day to open a new pie bakery than on Pi Day.
The new Mountlake Terrace location of the Snohomish Pie Company has set its opening day for Saturday, March 14. Grand opening festivities, scheduled for 1 p.m., will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mountlake Terrace Mayor Jerry Smith and local dignitaries.
The store will be full operation for its opening day, said owner Jenny Brien. “We will have our full menu ready,” she said; “Cinnamon rolls, pies, cookies, slices, sandwiches, soups and salads.”
To help celebrate the opening, the store will run a coloring contest for kids and a raffle for adults, with the grand prize being a “year of pie” (one pie a month for 12 months). Slices of pie will be sold on opening day for $3.14 each to match the date – 3/14.
The March 14 opening date for the store was set by no coincidence as it is recognized by mathematicians, math teachers and numbers enthusiasts as Pi Day. Pi is the symbol used in mathematics to represent the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, approximately 3.14159.
“And it’s not just any Pi Day,” noted Brien. “It’s 3/14/15! It won’t happen again for another century.”
The Mountlake Terrace location in the West Plaza shopping center at 5602 232nd St. SW will be the second for the Snohomish Pie Company, which was founded in Snohomish 19 years ago. Crews have spent six months remodeling the new Mountlake Terrace space that was formally occupied by a dry cleaner.

Why not include a photo of the location to better help customers find it when it’s open? Looking forward to sampling their stuff!
We will be taking photos during the ribbon cutting but to make it easier for folks now, it’s in the same complex where Double D Meats and Diamond Knot Brewpub are located in Mountlake Terrace.
This is great! The pie shop in Snohomish has been my go-to place for pie for years, and this will be a WHOLE lot more convenient.
