North Sound Church in Edmonds will join Christian churches worldwide in commemorating Holy Week, starting with a Maundy Thursday communion service at 7 p.m. April 2 in the North Sound Sanctuary.
The service, which derives its name from the Latin word for “command” and Jesus’ mandate to love one another as He loves them, commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus and His apostles, according to church tradition.
At 7 p.m. on Good Friday, April 3, a Tenebrae service will be held, also at North Sound Church. The solemn service that takes its name from the Latin word for “darkness” recreates the emotional aspects of the Passion, or crucifixion, of Christ.
Easter will be celebrated during the 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services on April 5 at the Edmonds Conference Center, 201 4th Ave. N. in downtown Edmonds. A baptism service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the North Sound sanctuary, located across the street from the Conference Center at 404 Bell St. Child care will be available during all three services.
