Esperance residents Sheri Ambacher and her son Logan Bury joined 16 volunteers, including three children under age 12, on Monday night to repackage 2,000 lbs. of brown rice, white rice, rolled oats and raisins into family-sized packages for food bank distribution. The work, which was completed in a little over an hour, was sponsored by PCC Natural Markets, and was financed primarily by PCC’s 5-cent plastic bag buyback program. Westgate Chapel opens its gymnasium for this event several times a year. You can find more information about volunteering at this or any of PCC’s packaging events around Puget Sound here.
