Verdant Community Wellness Center offering healthy lifestyle classes

verdant logoThe Verdant Health Commission invites you to sign up for any of the following free healthy lifestyle classes, coming soon to the Verdant Community Wellness Center, 4710 196th St. SW, Lynnwood:

Lifestyle Change Check Ins
Description: Lifestyle change does not happen overnight. Changes takes time and research shows change is more likely to happen with support. Sessions will include nutrition, weight management and activity tips, as well as a chance to share struggles, successes and motivators. A registered dietitian and exercise physiologist will be on-hand to facilitate the discussion and provide science-based guidance. Weigh-ins available if desired.
Dates: Check-ins are on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month from 6-7 p.m. No registration required and sessions are FREE.

Verdant’s Couch to 8K Training Program
Description: Whether you are physically active or want to make regular exercise a part of your lifestyle, plan to join Verdant’s Couch to 8K group forming in March. Physical therapist Shanon Tysland will lead participants through an 8-week program to train for Seattle’s annual Beat the Bridge Walk/Run on May 17 that benefits diabetes research.
Dates: Tuesdays from 7-8 p.m. March 17, March 31, April 14, April 28 and May 12; Saturday walking sessions at 9 a.m. from March 21-May 16; Celebration Party is May 19. Registration is required, but the program is FREE.

Focused Relaxation
Description: A class for anyone who wants to learn to relax and manage their stress. Focused relaxation is a simple technique that can be used at any age and just one class will teach you how to use this effective method in your daily life. Some of the potential benefits include: lowered blood pressure, better sleep, sharper memory, decreased depression and anxiety.
Dates: March 19, 24 or April 2 (choose one session), 10-11 a.m. Registration is required, but the program is FREE.
