What restaurant would you like to see in Edmonds?

Edmonds has a wide range of restaurants and more are on the way, including a Spud Fish and Chips and a Top Pot Doughnuts planned for Salish Crossing.

We had a few ideas for restaurants that would be welcome additions to our town, below. Do you agree? Or what else would YOU like to see?

      1. If it isn’t good enough here – go back to New York. There is actually a culture here and I like it!

        1. I don’t think Mr. Shelton was saying that it’s not good enough here. The question was what sort of a restaurant we’d like to see here. Others mentioned a German restaurant – should they go back to Germany? You seem to have read rather a lot into a harmless suggestion – one that was invited by the paper.

        2. Exactly. I’m from Indiana, but I’ve been to an authentic New York style deli, and as pointed out by Mr. Wechsler below, the meats/breads/etc. are to die for…

  1. The whole Edmonds ethos favors individual style, as opposed to just another cookie-cutter chain outlet. The Church Key has recently shown how to do it – do it well, do it your own way, offer quality… Evviva wood-fired pizza is another fine example.

But I’d like to add a plea for someplace QUIET, where conversation is possible, even valued and encouraged – as opposed to shouting!

  2. I agree with Nathaniel Brown regarding noisy Edmonds restaurants! One eatery that I like is Caravan Kebab in Firdale Village which is quiet and offers a wonderful menu.

  3. RognSue – Channel Marker will re-open – I believe they’re just remodeling the old Las Brisas space in Harbor Square.

  4. Intriguing… What makes a *true* NY Deli? I’ve only been to NY once, and can’t say I experienced it. But I’m curious! FYI, I also wonder what makes a true “NY Bagel”…

    1. Lots of things, Amy, but for example it’s high-quality meats, sliced thin and piled high, on real rye bread with caraway seeds and a corn-dusted crust. And of course good deli mustard. Also, a good New York bagel is nothing like the spongy ones you get at Costco. The closest you can get around here are at the Bagel Oasis in Ravenna.

  5. Agree with a previous comment about Evviva pizza, the best pizza in town. A new, soon to open business is the Boiling Point Taiwanese Soup located @ the corner of Hwy 99/220th next to the AT&T store.

  6. I agree about the noise level in most places–terrible! How about a restaurant featuring authentic Spanish tapas/small plates. That has been successful in other cities, especially on the East Coast.

  7. Salata is a wonderful salad restaurant in Houston that uses all fresh ingredients and house made dressings. Check it out at salata.com. An innovative concept and quite successful.

  8. Having a teenager I would like to see some more casual dining and somewhere for the young kids to hang out. There’s plenty high end eating and variety for the adults.

  9. A Spud Fish and Chips?!!! My dream comes true. If you’ve never experienced a Spuds at Alki Beach, Green Lake or at Juanita Bay on Lake Washington, well let’s just say, it’s the best.

  10. RATHER THAN ANOTHER RESTAURANT I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A HARDWARE (ACE OR TRU VALU) AND/OR BARTELL(S) OR SOME OTHER DRUG STORE COME INTO EDMONDS!

      1. I might add that Edmonds Hardware & Paint is also a long-time My Edmonds News advertiser — please support them!

    1. Just a note on our Code of Conduct/Terms of Service — in the online world, typing using all caps is akin to shouting so best to limit words in all caps to three or less per comment.

    2. Sharon, there’s a Bartells at 100th and Edmonds Way. If you”re talking about having one right in the heart of downtown, I’m not sure where they could put one.

      1. I know that!!! Sorry for the “all caps” on my original comment! And I did go to the hardware store in Edmonds, didn’t have what I needed.

  11. An In and Out Burger place would capture more revenue from folks traveling thru Edmonds, provide an added place for teens to enjoy and gather, and would probably add more taxes to the city.

    1. Don, We have different tastes and that is good. I like Dick’s burgers but like In N Out better. The style of In N Out with indoor seating and more customer choices have produced a winning formula. I have not done the research but based on personal observations the revenue produced per store is far greater at In N Out and would produce more revenue for the City.

  12. A good old fashioned rock and roll live music venue that serves the best pork butt sandwiches, smoked brisket, beer butt chicken, bacon beans, and sweet cornbread. The Perrinville area seems like a great place….
