The construction fences are up at the old TOP Food at 220th Street Southwest and Highway 99, where workers are busy staging materials and starting construction on what will be the new Edmonds WinCo supermarket.

“Construction is underway right now,” said Michael Read, WinCo spokesperson. “We’re completely transforming the store into a modern, state-of-the-art supermarket with wide aisles, plenty of light and an innovative checkout system that will get customers on their way sooner. It’s a big job, but we plan to have it completed and be ready to open for business in early 2016.”

According to Read, the new 87,000-square-foot store will feature a large produce section, meat, seafood and deli departments, and a bulk foods section offering more than 800 items from candy to pasta to whole grains.

“Our goal is to always have the lowest prices,” said Read. “In addition to the name brands you know and trust, customers find that our WinCo house brand meets or beats national brand quality at significant savings.”

An employee-owned company, WinCo will bring between 150 and 180 jobs to our community, Read said. If you’re interested in working for WinCo, he advises that all jobs at the new Edmonds store will be posted on the Winco website later this year.

  1. Maggie – I am slightly embarrassed to say that I also am still mourning the loss of our Top Foods!

  2. We also miss the folks @ Top Foods, and especially miss walking over to get some items when needed. Friends of ours live in north Bremerton area where there is a new WinCo, and they love the place especially the layout and many choices. Its a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

  3. I can’t wait to have a grocery store within walking distance to work once again!! Miss top every day, but so happy that it will be another grocery store!

  4. My husband only misses top foods cause they had jolt soda for 2 for 3 bucks now he gets it at double D meats store for 2.09 cents.

  5. I am so looking forward to the new WinCo! I miss Top and dislike all stores I’ve tried since they closed. I WILL be shopping at WinCo ! They can’t open soon enough for me!
