From the Publisher’s Desk: No foolin’ — we appreciate your support

Since I wrote my column last week about what a lousy job I do, I have been gratified by the response from those who have signed up for monthly or annual voluntary subscriptions to My Edmonds News. I have also had several other people tell me — either in person or via email — that they WILL be donating SOON.

So this will serve as your April 1st reminder that I’m not fooling around.

Yes, we do need your subscriptions to help pay writers, editors, photographers, graphic designers, web hosts and others who help bring community news directly to you, several times each day, seven days a week.

Yes, we do appreciate the financial support from our advertisers and also the contributions of those who send us photos and news on a regular basis.

No, it’s no joke. We appreciate WHATEVER you can give — $5, $10, $15 a month? $100 a year?

Have you subscribed yet?

  1. As I mentioned before: $10 a month = $.33 a day. An awesome value for the news I receive at my fingertips every day with my cuppa coffee!!!!! Thanks again Teresa for what you bring to our community!!!

  2. My Edmonds New is a wonderful source of local news and information. You have built a valuable local resource. I am traveling but PROMISE to set up a contribution when I return. I have stayed in touch while on foreign travels and also while visiting Kirkland or Ballard.

The community forums and comments help to discuss issues even when the discussions go sideways and border on just brash unsupported opinions.

When the data was posted on who made the most comments last year, I was surprised to learn I made the top 5. Trying to cut down this year.

Maybe an additional funding source could be a small surcharge for those of us who comment the most, or a charge for column inch posting, or the use of CAPS. Ops I will make my contribution larger for using 2 instead of just 1.

New and information is great and public comment is interesting.

Expect my CONTRIBUTION and self imposed “fine” for 3 caps when I return to Edmonds this month. Meanwhile I will check in daily while traveling. Keep up the great work and lets all make sure we do our part to keep this valuable asset alive and well.
