Meadowdale’s softball team, led by four runs from right-fielder Haili Taylor, beat Edmonds-Woodway 4-2 in a Wesco 3A South game Tuesday.
Taylor hit a two-run single in the fourth to tie the game, then added a two-run home run in the sixth to give the Mavericks the win.
Mariah Woolery was the losing pitcher for the Warriors (3-2, 4-3). Mavs pitcher Samantha Gregoryk got the win for Meadowdale is now 5-1, 7-1.
Baseball
After averaging more than 13 runs per game in their three-game sweep over Shorecrest last week, Edmonds-Woodway suffered an 8-3 loss to Mountlake Terrace in a Wesco 3A South match-up at Edmonds-Woodway High School.
E-W picked up just one hit against Mountlake Terrace starting pitcher Ben Reijonen, who went six innings, gave up one run and struck out two to earn the win.
Warrior Joey Rees cracked a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning off of Hawk reliever Jack Fiorillo. Austin Vaughn Jones took the loss for E-W, which fell to 3-4 in league play while Terrace evened its league mark at 4-4.
The three-game series between Wesco League 3A South rivals continues on Wednesday, April 7, as the teams take the field at Mountlake Terrace High School at 4 p.m.
