Scene in Edmonds: KING-FM’s Dave Beck speaks to Edmonds Rotary

Dave Beck
Dave Beck, King FM Afternoon Edition announcer, was the speaker for the Edmonds Rotary Noon Club April 21. Rotary members Carol Kinney and Doug Lofstrom, shown here with Beck, had heard him give lectures prior to the Cascade Symphony concerts and invited him to speak. Beck, a cellist, came from a long family tradition of rocket and aerospace engineers — and he shared his fascination with the many connections between aerospace technology and music. For example, aerospace scientist Wernher Von Braun, who was a leading figure in the development of rocket technology in Germany and in the U.S., not only played the cello but he even composed music. You can see Dave Beck live by attending his pre-concert lecture at the May 11 Cascade Symphony Concert, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Edmonds Center for the Arts.
