The Yost pool was a huge part of my kids life and these images are striking to me, very cool memories. They learned to swim and take risks from the high board, and a lot more. Thanks John for this awesome video artwork, it really hits home.
I like how the pool glides by and the reflection of the trees are static throughout the shot, reminding us what is fleeting and what is permanent… and I couldn’t resist flying by that ball that somebody lost.
Nice video, John – tell us more about your quadcopter. Do you use POV?
If you mean FPV, it does have a video downlink, but the delay and resolution on it, particularly while recording video, are not really usable for that. I mostly use it for lining up shots and getting an idea of what is in frame. The quad itself is a Phantom FC40, all stock (for now). I do some digital post-processing to reduce shake.
Or RPV or AVR or whatever…they seem to change the acronym weekly. I play with the nanos so I don’t do any in-flight video, but the programming is fun…

I remember seeing that video a few years back and having my mind blown — I did not think I would own something similar quite so soon. I actually learned to fly on a Hubsan X4; ironically, if you can master something that small the bigger ones are easy.
Thank you to the Parks department for keeping this place nice and clean even when it is closed. Really appreciate the work you do.
