Sponsor Spotlight: Chroma Salon and Spa celebrates Earth Month

Chroma logoThe month of April — Earth Month — has special meaning for Chroma Salon and Spa, which earlier this year took over Salon 512 previously owned by Gail Sarvis.

With ties to Aveda, known for its environmentally-friendly salon products, Chroma notes that it has two groups participating in the annual Trashion Show hosted on May 3 at Seattle’s Columbia City Theater. This event is hosted by Aveda and is where local stylists and salons from throughout the area compete on the runway with models that have entire looks made from garbage or recycled materials — including their makeup, hair and costuming. The proceeds from this event benefit the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, which works to protect and preserve Puget Sound.

In addition, Chroma’s Edmonds salon is selling Aveda’s annual “Light The Way Candles, with all of the purchase price going toward Global Greengrants Fund, which assists clean water projects throughout the world. These candles are made from 100 percent naturally-derived soy and plant waxes, and each candle sold can provide one years’ worth of drinking water for a person in Madagascar. This year’s scent is vanilla, cinnamon and clove.

Chroma is located at 512 5th Ave. S. Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and Saturdays 9 a.m.-4 pm. The salon number is 425-776-5055.
