Significant School Project: I wrote a 14-page, 19-source Junior Research Paper paper explaining and taking a stance on the national issue of the Common Core State Standards, the implementation of which started this year. My stance on the issue was not a simple acceptance or rejection of the national education standards; instead I took a nuanced position that, though it rejected the standards in general, compromised between the differing viewpoints by making the concession that national, unified standards are necessary while arguing that they need to be simplified and condensed to promote educator innovation.
Future Educational Goals: I will attend Edmonds Community College for a two-year Associates transfer degree. After that, I am unsure to which four-year college I want to transfer. I want to use the skills I learned to be a positive force for society.
Future Career Goals: I am undecided about what I want my career to be but am leaning toward CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and 3-D modeling on the computer.
Anything else we should know? I received fives on both the AP World History and US History tests in May 2013 and 2014, respectively. In my spare time I have made virtual computer models of Riblet chair lifts; the real ones (manufactured in Spokane 1939-2002) are interesting pieces of Washington State history in their own right.
