The Cascadia Art Museum, originally scheduled to open July 11 in the Salish Crossing complex next to the Edmonds ferry terminal, will now open on Sept. 12.
That’s the word from Museum Interim Executive Director Elizabeth Calder, who said the delay was due to a booming construction industry that has subcontractors spread thin.
Instead of having the museum opening in early August, when many are on vacation, the Museum Board decided to wait until September, Calder said.
The inaugural exhibition for the museum, which is dedicated to the legacy of Northwest art from the 19th century through the mid-Modernist period, will be “A Fluid Tradition: Northwest Watercolor Society…The First 75 Years.”
Tickets will go on sale in July for the museum’s Sept. 10 opening celebration and fundraiser. Visit the museum website at cascadiaartmuseum.org for more details and to subscribe to event updates.
