Volunteers and supporters of Clothes For Kids raised over $17,000 to benefit the school wardrobe program during the “Celebrate the Children” luncheon and auction May 2 at Westgate Chapel in Edmonds.
“Approximately 25 percent of our funding comes from special events,” said Joy Ingram, Clothes For Kids Development Director. “This is the fourth year that our volunteers — who already dedicate much of their time to the program — helped to host this auction.”
This year, Clothes For Kids provided school wardrobes to over 3,170 students throughout Snohomish County. “The $4,000 raised during the Fund-A-Need portion of the auction will go a long way to help us stock socks and underwear for fall,” said Nancy Laird Burris, Clothes For Kids Program Manager.
Thanks to sponsors Charlie’s Produce and Fred Meyer, much of the expenses of the event were underwritten — allowing more of the funds raised to directly benefit Clothes For Kids.
Clothes For Kids completed clothing distribution for the 2014-15 school year at the end of March. The facility will reopen in late August for back to school. Donations of gently-used clothing and cash support are gratefully accepted year round.
