The City of Edmonds will celebrate its 125th anniversary this year with a community celebration in downtown Edmonds on Tuesday, Aug. 11, anniversary of the actual date of the city’s incorporation in 1890.
The festivities will begin after 1 p.m. on 5th Avenue North between City Hall and the Historical Museum and will feature live performances from local musical, dance and theater groups, Chalk Art exhibits, the Historical Society and Museum’s presentation of a 25-year time capsule, congratulatory remarks from Mayor Earling, previous Edmonds mayors and a visiting delegation from Edmonds’ Japanese sister city, Hekinan, and birthday cake and refreshments. It will culminate in a public street dance on that section of 5th Avenue.
As part of the celebrations, the City of Edmonds is collecting birthday greetings throughout the summer from residents and friends of Edmonds to post on its 125th Anniversary Facebook events page. Photos with birthday wishes for the city can be emailed to [email protected] to be posted on the page.
