Update: Edmonds Community College’s Snohomish Hall to open on Friday

edcclogoEdmonds Community College received a final lab report showing the air is all clear in Snohomish Hall and it is safe to enter the building again. All classes, work and activities scheduled in Snohomish Hall will return to normal operations Friday, May 8 beginning at 6 a.m.

Edmonds Community College’s Snohomish Hall continues to be closed through Thursday evening.

All evening classes in Snohomish Hall are cancelled. All other classes are running on normal schedule. A strong odor was detected at approximate 4:30 a.m. by custodial and security staff.

The building was evacuated and Lynnwood Fire Department was called to evaluate. Recent examination of the building revealed no odor or toxins; however, the college has performed an additional air quality test and is waiting for results. To ensure the safety of all campus community members who use this building, the decision has been made to continue the closure.

Snohomish Hall on the campus of Edmonds Community College has been closed due to a non-toxic odor, the Lynnwood Fire Department is reporting. The college has cancelled all of the day classes in Snohomish Hall.

The odor problem is related to current construction in the building. A strong odor was detected at approximate 4:30 a.m. by custodial and security staff. The building was evacuated and Lynnwood Fire Department was called to evaluate. After testing air quality, it was determined the building should be ventilated until approximately 4 p.m. Thursday. Before the building is re-opened it will undergo additional air quality testing to insure no health concerns exist.
