Multiple suspects forced their way into an Edmonds home in the 1000 block of 8th Avenue South Monday afternoon, ransacking the residence, Edmonds police said. Two elderly residents, described as a man and woman in their 80s and 90s, weren’t restrained and were unharmed during the robbery.

It’s unknown exactly how many suspects were involved and there were no reports of a weapon, said Edmonds police spokesman Sgt. Shane Hawley. The couple was shaken up by the incident and will be interviewed at a later date, he added.

According to Hawley, police don’t know what, if anything, was taken from the home.

  1. It is so important to remember (people of all ages) not to open the door to strangers. Always ask who is there, and if necessary, ask that identification be shown through a glass, peephole, or slid under the door. If one is still uncomfortable, don’t open the door. A number of years ago we were saved from opening the door to a dangerous person roaming our neighborhood by following this process.

  2. I disagree with the headline… “No one hurt…”
The victims and our neighborhood are hurt by this kind of danger.

  3. Darriol: from what I understand about what happened (which isn’t much) they probably wouldn’t have been charged with a crime for shooting the intruders, but I believe in Washington state you can still be sued for shooting somebody even if they broke into your house. So the answer is: yes, maybe, kind of.

In any case everyone concerned is very lucky that nobody was hurt, and I hope the police manage to figure out who did this.

  4. You can be sued for anything at anytime. The courts would treat the crooks as the victims and the victims as they crooks…that is the mantra of a progressive, liberal society’s inverted mental wiring.
