A ceremony has been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3 to dedicate Edmonds’ Fire Station 16 in honor of the late community activiist Betty Mueller.
Mueller was a tireless crusader who founded the Edmonds Police Foundation and was instrumental in setting things in motion for construction of the city’s current Public Safety Building.
The Edmonds City Council on March 3, 2015 voted unanimously to honor Mueller by naming Fire Station 16 in her memory. A citizens group raised funds to purchase a sign, which has been placed outside the fire station.
The event will be between 2 and 3:30 pm inside Fire Station 16, located at 8429 196th S.W. in Edmonds. Snacks, cake and other goodies will be served. Plenty of parking is available behind the building, according to event organizer Dave Page.
