Letter to the Editor: Why I am supporting Neil Tibbott for Edmonds City Council

Editor:

Neil Tibbott is a person of integrity who believes in the voice of all citizens of Edmonds no matter their political, social, or community standing. By reviewing his list of supporters on his web site, Neil Tibbott for Edmonds City Council, you can see how much support he is receiving from all sectors of the community. He has very broad support. People appreciate his candor and willingness to work with all citizens to hear their voice and he will work to really understand the issues both pro and con. The City Council needs a voice of reason, a voice of conciliation, a voice of collaboration to move this great City forward. Neil Tibbott is the person we need now for the times we are facing.

  1. Last year alone, City Council member Lora Petso (against whom Neil is running), saved Edmonds taxpayers more than $2 million by refinancing a city bond. Apparently no one else in city government had thought about doing that! Neil is a nice guy and could be a good council member, but Edmonds needs to keep Lora Petso in office as long as she is willing to serve.

  2. Good points Cliff. Lora also is a ardent supporter for maintaining lower building heights. She has been always a champion for an Edmonds small town atmosphere. And her opponents have usually been proponents for HIGHER building heights. I wonder, where does Mr. Tibbott stand on the heights issue?

  3. Thanks for the opportunity to leave a brief comment. I trust we’ll have time in upcoming venues to talk about this more. Simply put, I’m not for allowing more height for buildings downtown. To date I’ve doorbelled over 3,500 homes. The topic of higher buildings rarely comes up, but when it does, nearly 100% of the people say that they want to preserve the quality and charm of our downtown. Those sentiments speak loudly to me.
