Police, hazmat team called to Highway 99 public storage facility after strange odor reported


Edmonds police and Snohomish County Fire District 1’s Hazmat team were called to the scene of the Public Storage facility at 22500 Highway 99  at 2:18 p.m. Wednesday afternoon after receiving a report of a strange chemical odor. The building was temporarily closed and a customer was taken to Swedish Edmonds Hospital with a scratchy throat.

According to police spokesman Sgt. Shane Hawley, the facility was reopened after an investigation officials found no evidence of hazardous materials onsite and were unable to determine what the odor was.
