Clubs & Activities: In August 2015, I attended the National Student Leadership Conference for Medicine and Health Care at Harvard Medical School in Boston. Also, I am currently training to be a member of the Junior Health Scholars at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, where I will be working four hours a week in the hospital alongside doctors and nurses, immersing myself in hospital culture and gaining an opportunity to help patients.
Athletics: I am one of the two captains of the Edmonds-Woodway varsity Cheerleading team. This position entails many responsibilities for my teammates and my school.
Awards: I was recognized by the American Association of University Women for my scholarly achievement in the STEM field of science. Additionally, I was recognized as the August STEM student of the month.
Community Service: As a member of the cheerleading team, I participate in many school and community based volunteer projects. These include the junior cheer camp our team holds for elementary and middle school aged students, volunteering at the yearly Fourth of July parade in Edmonds, helping coach the life-skills cheerleading team, the Sparkles, that our school leads, and supporting all of our school’s varsity teams throughout all sports seasons at all of their home games.
Significant School Project: I am working on my Extended Essay about the potential of Embryonic Stem Cell research and therapy in the United States and Germany and how that potentially could affect the region’s ability to treat diseases through regenerative medicine.
Future Educational Goals: I hope to attend my dream school, the University of Southern California, and major in Human Biology with a minor in Public Health. After I earn my undergraduate degree, I plan to attend medical school in hopes of becoming a physician.
