Letter to the editor: My choices for Edmonds City Council

Dear Editor:

Elections are an opportunity for us all to have a say in who represents us. With that comes the need to make an educated and thoughtful choice. During an election, some promise many things but after, many things are left undone or not done with the best interest of the whole City. Some make decisions based on pressure from small groups of people with a special interest   It is important to listen to all voices in Edmonds not just those of a few. All ideas and thoughts should be considered and evaluated objectively, even those with a special interest, however decisions should be based on what is best for the Public good. We need to elect people who are willing to see the whole picture and do what is truly needed.

Owning and running a business requires seeing what is needed not just to survive but also thrive. It is a challenge businesses face on a daily basis. Is this similar to running a city? Of course it is. You have to see what is needed and generate funds to provide products like good roads and parks and services like police and fire protection. You have to generate those funds. You have to adjust when there are not enough funds.

Can you help your City do that? Of course you can by electing people who understand basic business practices and how that translates into governing responsibly. It’s by electing people who know the community and how their decisions affect people now and in the future. It’s by electing people who are willing to move the community forward objectively.

Both Neil Tibbott and Dave Teitzel have these important skills. I know them personally and know that they will do what is in the best interest of the whole city. They speak their own minds and at the same time, understand that it takes a collaborative and objective effort to make good decisions. They have no hidden or personal objectives. Neither of them has a cause that will require them to put on blinders. They are committed to a fair and open process and desire to truly represent all the people of Edmonds. Tibbott and Teitzel can get the job done and by electing them, you will have done your part in what our future will look like. Join me in voting for the two T’s, Tibbott and Teitzel.
