Letter to the Editor: Why Councilmember Petso has my vote

Editor:

I will be voting for Lora Petso for City Council and invite others to do so, so that she may continue her work for the citizens of Edmonds. Ms. Petso brings many skills and much experience to her post. Being an attorney, she uses critical thinking and incisive questions to understand and decide on matters before the council. Ms. Petso is also very approachable and responsive to queries and comments from the citizenry. But most important, Councilmember Petso is honest, straight forward, and positive as she functions as a representative of all the people of Edmonds.

Ms. Petso has many years of experience in public service from being a chess coach, to Olympic View Water District Commissioner, to Edmonds City Councilmember since 2010 and Council President in 2013. And yet, her accomplishments consistently demonstrate her efforts for the citizens of Edmonds. She has consistently supported existing building height limits, saved the city $2 million through debt refinancing, supported the delicate critical areas of our city and waterfront, has lead the way to establish parks and community areas, worked to create a friendly business environment and opposed increasing the taxpayers’ burden by opposing the car tab fee. All in all Ms. Petso’s record is evidence of her overwhelming qualification to continue in office at Council Position #7

I am not alone in my choice of Ms. Petso. She has been endorsed by the National Women’s Political Caucus of Washington; Senator Maralyn Chase of the Washington State Senate; Joan Bloom, Edmonds City Councilmember; Michael Plunkett, Edmonds City Council(retired) and Randy Hayden, Snohomish County Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board.

Again, I would invite the citizens of Edmonds to join me in re-electing Ms. Petso to Position #7 on the Edmonds City Council.

  1. Lora has served the city long and well, I believe her best moments, along with Diane Buckshinis, was in their battle to get the horribly messed up budget straightened out which they were eventually successful despite receiving heavy abuse from the former mayor and his cronies.

  2. Thank you Gayle Ketzel! I enthusiastically concur! Lora Petso has now and always will have… my vote! She is quite simply… the best!

Thank you Ray Martin! Glad you are still out there “champion-ing” the best candidate… Lora Petso.
