Edmonds police say speed wasn’t a factor in a car-pedestrian collision at 7 a.m. Thursday morning at 6th and Daley Street that sent a 48-year-old Edmonds woman to Swedish Edmonds hospital with bumps and bruises.

According to police spokesman Sgt. Josh McClure, the 16-year-old driver said he was reaching down to adjust his car heater and didn’t see the woman crossing the street east to west on Daley Street. The resulting collision knocked the woman down, and she was taken to the hospital for observation but not admitted, McClure said.

“Both the victim and the witness do not believe the driver was speeding,” McClure said. The teen driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian.

  1. Isn’t there a stop sign at this location? Hitting a pedestrian while reaching for a heater sounds like negligence to me.
