Starting later this month, downtown Edmonds will be filled with sights and sounds of the holidays, and you’re invited to shop, eat, drink and be merry under the sparkling lights.

Among the activities planned:

  • The City of Edmonds will launch an inaugural Holiday Farmers Market near 5th and Main on Saturdays, starting Nov. 21, and will be open between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. every Saturday through Dec. 19. Grab local produce, meats and other edibles along with fresh garlands and more from nearly 20 vendors.
  • Shop Edmonds’ many locally-owned businesses during Shop Small Saturday on Nov. 28. Also on the 28th, the annual Edmonds Tree Lighting sponsored by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce will offer hot cider, cookies and Christmas carols, at 4:30 p.m. in front of City Hall and culminates with Santa lighting the tree for the season at 5th Avenue and Bell Street.
  • The Edmonds Theater will offers free holiday movies on Dec. 4 and 11, with two shows per night: 4 and 5:30 p.m. Movies will be announced on the marquee in December.

“We are lucky to have such a vibrant, charming downtown. It’s perfect for shoppers and families looking to soak up the sweet, small-town feeling of the holiday”, said Kimberly Koenig, owner Rogue Boutique and member of the Edmonds Downtown Alliance, the group coordinating a number of the holiday events. “We even have carolers lined up to serenade folks Friday evenings in December – while our shops stay open late”.

Ride with Santa through the heart of downtown and along the scenic waterfront on the free Holiday Trolley. The trolley will be downtown for Shop Small Saturday and every Saturday in December — through Dec. 19 — from noon-6 p.m.
