Learn to clog at Edmonds Senior Center

CloggingThe Edmonds Senior Center is offering a new dance class, that of American clogging. The class is being taught by Maureen Pettit who has been a professional dancer all her life. Her career started in the United Kingdom where she was a classical ballet dancer with a ballet company based in London. She then went traveling throughout Europe performing in many musicals and finally danced with the ‘Folies Bergere’ in Paris. Upon marrying and coming to the USA, Maureen ran her own dance studio in West Seattle for many years.

Now retired, Pettit continues to teach clogging and folk dancing. Clogging has its roots in the Appalachian Mountains and is popular worldwide. It is a rhythmic, hoedown style danced to traditional music. Clogging is an enjoyable, fun, healthy exercise for any age. Shoes will be discussed at first lesson.

Classes are held at Edmonds Senior Center on Thursdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Anyone, any age is welcome to come and try the activity. Cost is $10 per month for senior center members and $15 per month for non-members. The Edmonds Senior Center is located at 220 Railroad Ave, just south of the Edmonds ferry terminal.
