The woman who was struck on Highway 99 in Edmonds Sunday night had stopped her car in the middle of the turn lane at 236th Street Southwest to clean off her windshield, Edmonds police said Monday.
Edmonds police spokesman Sgt. Shane Hawley said more details are forthcoming, but what is known is that the 49-year-old woman and her daughter were in a vehicle and had just pulled out of a nearby parking lot around 8:35 p.m. Sunday when the woman had difficulty seeing through the windshield. She stopped her car in the two-way turn lane and “working around the car” when she was hit by a black vehicle, which left the scene.
The victim, whose place of residence was not immediately known, is still at Harborview with a serious head injury. Edmonds police are seeking the vehicle, which was last seen headed southbound on Highway 99.
