Marcia Ann (Nice) Trott, 67, of Edmonds, Wash., passed into eternal life on Nov. 1, 2015, All Saints Day. Marcia was born in Sterling, Ill., to Fay and Gladys Nice. It was at the University of Iowa in 1967 where she met the love of her life, Steve Trott. Steve and Marcia married in Iowa City, Iowa, on June 8, 1968.
Throughout their life together, Steve and Marcia lived in Ft. Polk, La., Indianapolis and Garland, Texas, as well as Lake Forest Park and Edmonds. While in Texas, they dreamed of living in Alaska after participating in a mission trip renovating Alaska Pacific University. Their dream became a reality four years later when they moved to Anchorage, where they lived for 13 years.
Marcia shared her love for music by singing in a church choir everywhere she lived. In Texas, she also kindled a love for acting that became a hobby and Christian ministry. At Edmonds United Methodist Church, she portrayed Mother Mary and directed βThe Twelve Seats at the Table.β
Marcia adored the time she spent with her two children and four grandchildren. She established traditions like the annual Easter egg hunt, family camping trips, and birthday sleepovers.
Marcia was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012. She achieved remission within a year, but the cancer returned six months later.
Together, Steve and Marcia fulfilled their retirement dreams of traveling the country in their motorhome. They participated in NOMADS, repairing Methodist churches and summer camps across the country. They also spent a summer serving as campground hosts in Eagle River, Alaska.
Marcia is survived by her husband, Steve Trott; her children, Eric Trott of Kenmore, Wash., Leah (Barham) Trott of Seattle, and their spouses, Julie Trott and Russ Barham; grandchildren Sam and Cary Trott and Nolan and Hayden Barham; sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Karl Looff, and brother and sister-in-law Dr. Richard and Phyllis Nice.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at Edmonds United Methodist Church, 828 Caspers Street. Dr. Rev. Kathlyn James and Rev. Dennie Carcelli will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to NOMADS or to Edmonds UMC Music & Arts.
