New recruiting videos aimed at attracting police candidates to Edmonds

The Edmonds Police Department in December released a series of recruiting videos aimed at attracting future applicants to become police officers in Edmonds.

According to Edmonds police spokesman Sgt. Josh McClure, the videos were produced by Edmonds resident Scott Pinzon, an instructional video producer at EMC, an information technology and services company. The 200 hours of video work were donated through the EMC Gives Back Program, at a value of $15,000, McClure said. “It cost us about $100 and some sandwiches for the crew on shoot day,” he added.

The overview video, “On Scene with Edmonds PD,” features several current police officers driving around Edmonds while they talk about their experiences with the department. “I was very appreciative of the way I was treated,” said Detective Stacie Trykar of her early days as a rookie on the force.

“To think of Edmonds as just a sleepy little town by the water would be underestimating it,” added Officer Jason Robinson. “There’s plenty of police calls to go to and at the same time, plenty of great views to enjoy.”

McClure said the goal of the videos “is to stay ahead of hiring needs and have applicants seeking us out, While staffing is good now, with anticipated attrition we felt that these were a great opportunity to attract future applicants.”

You can watch all three videos on the department’s Recruitment and Hiring webpage.
