Starting in mid-February, the Permit Center at Edmonds City Hall will be open five days a week, instead of being closed on Wednesdays, to better meet increasing public demand for its services.
“Thanks to the growing economy, public demand for the Permit Center’s services is also growing, and we are really looking forward to serving the community more fully,” said Development Services Director Shane Hope.
The Permit Center has been closed on Wednesdays because the volume of permits and plans being submitted was so great that staff could not keep up with the submissions. When the Permit Center is open, staff must spend additional time at the counter helping people with questions and requests.
Last month, the City Council approved a 2016 budget that restores some staffing that had been cut during the recession. Since then, city has focused on recruiting for the positions.
