While some may have spent the weekend making New Year’s resolutions, local high school wrestlers were busy grappling in two huge prep tournaments.
All four Edmonds School District high schools sent wrestlers to the Everett Classic, a one-day tournament held at Everett High School on Jan. 2. The event drew 29 schools from throughout the state, with Pasco crossing the Cascades and capturing the team title.

The Edmonds-Woodway Warriors split their wrestling squad, sending some to the Everett Classic while some traveled to Vancouver, Washington, for the prestigious Pacific Coast Championships, a two-day event that attracted top teams from both Washington and Oregon. In the 195 lb. class, Edmonds-Woodway’s Spencer Schultz earned a first-place finish.
All four Edmonds School District teams will be in action on Tuesday, Jan. 6, in a double dual being held at Lynnwood High School. At 6:00 p.m. the Royals will take on Edmonds-Woodway on one mat while the Mountlake Terrace Hawks grapple the Meadowdale Mavericks on a separate mat. At 7:30 p.m. Lynnwood will face Meadowdale while E-W clashes with the Hawks.
