A new program will give brain injury survivors and caregivers resources to deal with life’s challenges and help them find new interests.
The Brain Health and Wellness Program by the Brain Injury alliance of Washington will offer classes beginning this month at Verdant Health, located in Lynnwood at 4710 196th St. S.W., or Swedish Edmonds, at 21601 76th Ave. W.
Classes are tailored for people affected by brain injuries and their loved ones. The program will help survivors reintegrate into their families and offer non-clinical life skills classes, such as cooking, meditation and organization.
All classes are free to attend. You can register online.
Here’s a schedule of what’s coming up this month at Verdant Health:

Why Marriages Succeed After Traumatic Brain Injury
This two-part class is for couples whose partner has had a traumatic brain injury. Research has shown that couples wait an average of six years from the first sign of problems to get help. Getting help sooner will help you build and sustain a loving relationship and will support recovery. The class is for couples who feel their role has changed in their relationship, or that now have difficulty communicating, among other issues.
Thursdays: Jan. 7 & 21. Class is from 2-3:30 p.m. Attendance at both classes is required.
Please … let’s make it mandatory that bike helmets must be worn in Edmonds.
