Due to stagnant weather conditions and rising air pollution, the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency is issuing a Stage 2 burn ban for Snohomish County, effective Thursday, Jan. 7, at 1 p.m.
Under a Stage 2 burn ban, All wood burning is prohibited, including pellet stoves. Outdoor burning is also prohibited. This ban is in effect until further notice.
The purpose of a burn ban is to reduce the amount of pollution that is creating unhealthy air. Air quality has worsened in Snohomish County, and the agency expects these conditions will continue through Friday, and possibly well into the weekend. Pollution levels in Snohomish County are already “unhealthy for sensitive groups.”
A broad high pressure weather pattern will result in calm and cold conditions, with evening and morning inversions, which can trap pollution near the ground. This dry and calm weather pattern may extend into early next week.
The Washington State Department of Health recommends that people who are sensitive to air pollution limit their time spent outdoors, especially when exercising. Air pollution can trigger asthma attacks, cause difficulty breathing, and make lung and heart problems worse.

so how come the county has one place where there is bad air darrington and nobody can burn you will notice that king county has no burn band how can you go across the line and all of the sudden its a stage 2 something needs to be fixed
I bought this single wide and the previous owner removed the forced air heat and only used a mobile home certified air tight wood burning stove. I sped all my time year round collecting and processing fire wood so I have good dry wood to get me through winter. When it gets cold I must keep the home constantly warm or my water pipes will freeze and I will have huge water disaster on my hands, and it’s the wrong time of year to have to deal with that. It seems like every time it gets really cold out they put on a burn ban, more this year then I’ve ever seen. Not to mention that King County doesn’t even have a burn ban at all. To run electric space heaters in every room is out of the question and it’s unsafe to run propane while it’s unattended or will sleeping. Could cause a fire, or a gas leak and blow up, and there is also the danger of C02. Not only does open flame propane heater suck the oxygen out of the room but it also emits C02, the silent odorless killer. I don’t know what you expect us to do if people like myself are on a fixed income. I can’t afford a new forced air heating system and all new ducting and the installation these days is astronomical $$$$$ not to mention the power to run it. It takes 2 separate 230 volt breakers and 1 120 volt breaker for the squirrel cage fan plus the 24 volts for the thermostat. It’s definitely not efficient.
