Edmonds Municipal Court Judge Linda W.Y. Coburn was
recently appointed to the governing board of the District and Municipal Court Judges’
Association (DMCJA).
The statewide association includes all duly elected or appointed and qualified judges of courts of limited jurisdiction, including but not limited to district judges and municipal court judges. She will serve a three-year term.
A 23-year Edmonds resident, Judge Coburn was appointed to the
bench in January 2015 to fill a vacancy left by Judge Douglas Fair, who is now a judge in South District Court. Fair also is a member of the governing board for the DMCJA.
In addition to the DMCJA, Judge Coburn also is a member of the Washington State Minority and Justice Commission. The commission, whose members are appointed by the Washington State Supreme Court, work to identify and eradicate the effects of racial, ethnic and cultural bias in our state court system.
The Washington State Supreme Court recently unanimously signed an order renewing the commission. The commission is co-chaired by Justice Charles Johnson and Justice Mary Yu. Judge Coburn was appointed to the commission last year for a four-year term.
