Reminder: Best clam chowder in Edmonds? Taste and vote Saturday

ChowderCookOffSeveral local restaurants will compete to win the title of “Best Clam Chowder in Edmonds,” sponsored by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce this Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Edmonds Yacht Club, 32 Admiral Way.

The public will vote for the People’s Choice Award for Best Traditional and Best Cutting-Edge Chowder (anything outside of “traditional” chowder), plus the Best Booth. There will also be a Judged category. Early entrants to the cook-off include Ivar’s, Chanterelle, Scott’s Bar & Grill, Soup’s On Café, and Here & There Anywhere Grill, with more to be announced soon.

The event will run from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. (Voting will end at 3:30 p.m. and winners will be announced at 3:45 p.m.) Admission to the family-friendly Cook-Off is $10, which gets attendees tastes of chowder from all participating restaurants, and a voting card. The first 100 people at the door will receive a FREE souvenir tasting cup.

Admission can be purchased at the door or in advance online at www.edmondscookoff.com.

In addition to the chowder, the event will include live music by musicians from STRUM Ukulele Players, Austin Harp Arts and Cascade Symphony. Kids can do crafts and play games in the Kid Zone, and get a photo with Ivar’s Dancing Clam. Adults 21 and older can enjoy a craft beer from the Salish Sea Brewing Company in the patio beer garden, and wine, root beer and Canarino Gelato will also be available for purchase.

Proceeds from the cook-off will go to support the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce.
