Scene in Edmonds: Sure signs of spring

Spring is here. How do I know? Because spring flowers are my indicator, not the calendar or temperature. On this side of the Cascades, it comes one blossom at a time.

I pay attention, because it is easily missed, especially if the weather is gray and wet. The crocus and camilla are out and beautiful. The daffodils have broken through the soft leaf covered ground and will bloom any day now.

Yost Park is lovely and peaceful and not too wet to traverse. Signs of the windstorms are everywhere, but life goes on and Shell Creek rushes beneath your feet on the foot bridge. You’d think you were miles from civilization just a few steps into the Park.

We live in Paradise.

  1. Paradise indeed! I was just looking at some camellias this morning, on Queen Anne, and marveled at how early it was (seemingly) to see them but also how nice, that and chirping birds goes a long way to brightening up the gray days. Yes, paradise.
