A boy and a girl reported missing from the Monroe area were found Saturday night by Edmonds police.
According to Edmonds police spokesman Sgt. Shane Hawley, the two — Marley Headley, 12, and Kyle Mclaurine, 16 — were spotted as they were walking northbound in the 19800 block of Highway 99 at around 8 p.m. Saturday.
Monroe police had issued an alert for the two due to concerns for the girl’s safety because of past contacts with Mclaurine.
According to Hawley, Edmonds police were assisting in a search for the pair just south of the King-Snohomish County line when a car backed into one of their patrol vehicles, causing minor damage. An Edmonds police shift supervisor who had responded to that collision happened to see Headley and Mclaurine as they were walking northbound, Hawley said.
Mclaurine was taken into custody while Headley was returned to her parents.
