Edmonds Port Commission Report for March 28

POEThe Edmonds Port Commission  at its March 28 meeting:

  • Heard a report from the City of Edmonds on the renovation of the Edmonds Fishing Pier. The pier is owned by the city but lies in part within the bounds of port property. The pier is currently closed for the renovation and is scheduled to reopen sometime in June.
  • Received a report on the port’s boatyard general permit. The boatyard operates under a permit issued by the State Department of Ecology. The current permit is scheduled to be renewed by June 1 of this year and will include many revised chemical runoff benchmarks that require the port’s compliance.
  • Began the process of appointing a replacement for Port Commissioner Mary Lou Block, who recently resigned. The commission examined the applicable state code requirements; the replacement must be named within 90 days.
  • Approved a formal recognition policy for port employee accomplishments, including longevity. Total financial awards cannot exceed $6,000 per year.

The next regularly scheduled commission meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday, April 11, in the commission meeting room, 336 Admiral Way.
