The U10 girl’s soccer team Edmonds Quiet Riot continued to make its presence known in Northwest Champion’s league, finishing second in last weekend’s finals at 60 Acres Park in Redmond.

It was the first time an FC Edmonds team competed in the semi-finals and the finals for the Northwest Champions League. The team earned its spot in last weekend’s finals after going undefeated during the second leg of the Northwest Champions league competition last October.

Here’s a report from Joshua Cardin of Quiet Riot:

In the semifinals vs. the Issaquah Gunners on Saturday, March 12: “Edmonds girls were down 1-0 at the half. Our goalkeeper came up huge for us with 13 saves. Secnd half, we managed to get a cross off and our midfielder connected on the cross for a sweet upper corner goal with 10 minutes left in the game. The game ended 1-1 and went to penalty kicks, and again our keeper had some big saves. We won it on our 4th kick (out of 5).”

In the finals vs. Crossfire on Sunday, March 13: “This was a crazy game because of the weather. The girls were having a tough time during wind gusts and rain. This time, the keeper for Crossfire was the hero. She made a lot of close saves…often off her face or some other body part. Crossfire was up 1-0 and then a ball was scored through the side net and was counted as a goal. It was a momentum killer for us and the rest of the game is history…we lost 3-1.”

“We as parents, coaches, and spectators are super proud of our girls. This tournament started in August with 10 of the best teams in the region. I can’t believe it ended with us as a finalist. The fight, skills, and spirit of these girls in unreal.”
