A 21-year-old Edmonds woman suspected of driving drunk is facing vehicular assault charges after the vehicle she was driving crashed head-on into another car on State Route 524 at Damson Road Friday night. The collision, which occurred just before 10 p.m. at the intersection next to Floral Hills Cemetery, sent the Edmonds woman’s passenger — 22-year-old Brianna Ganyo of Lynnwood — to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect’s 2010 Hyundai Elantra was totaled in the crash. The other vehicle involved in the crash — a 2004 Acura MDX — also was totaled although the Acura’s two occupants — driver Hien V. Pham, 51, and Thien Hauphan Pham, 8, both of Bothell — were uninjured.
According to the Washington State Patrol report, the suspect’s vehicle was traveling westbound on SR 524 and turned left in front of Pham’s vehicle, failing to yield the right of way, and causing the head-on collision.
The suspect was booked into Snohomish County Jail early Saturday morning.
Why is the driver’s name not given but the other victims’ names are given?
Our policy, like that of many media organizations, is that we don’t name suspects until they are charged with a crime.
